Either Way

I was driving past when the repeating rooflines of the greenhouse caught my attention. Everything was pale and orderly, except for the black and yellow sign pointing in both directions..

I drive along. I see something. I stop and get out of the car. Almost immediately, I am engulfed by silence. It reminds me of the old Zen question, “What is the sound of one hand clapping?” It is not really a question that needs an answer. It asks you to stop searching for an explanation and simply pay attention. For me, that is what happens when I find a photograph. Everything becomes quiet, and I know I have found something worth seeing. This is often how a photograph begins for me

That silence is a good thing. I can hear myself think. I know I have found something that is right for me, something that will become one of my images. Something I like. I take my time, compose the photograph and make the exposure. Then I get back in the car and continue until something else catches my eye.

If I’m lucky I’ll stop once in a day for an image, If I’m really lucky maybe even twice. This day with Audrey and the pups i think we stopped four times.

Prints availble by contacting me thru email.
